Job Purpose

  • Conduct internal and external inspections, both planned and unplanned, of all static equipment and facilities to ensure integrity of onshore and offshore piping, static equipment and tanks.
  • Coordinate NDT activities and follow-up.
  • Ensure that inspection and testing methods conform to company standards, plans and specifications.

Job Responsibilities

Main responsibilities and Liabilities:

Technical: Assess condition and integrity of static equipment and facilities.

  • Prepare job list of shutdown testing and inspection requirements for all equipment and piping circuits; participate in finalizing the testing and inspection scope of work.
  • Perform internal and external inspections of new and existing static equipment and facilities. Ensure that all inspections are carried out in accordance with company and industry standards.
  • Determine the appropriate NDT method to assess equipment condition, and coordinate with NDT group to conduct testing program.
  • Evaluate inspection, NDT and corrosion data to determine the optimal and most cost-effective repair method.
  • Monitor repairs according to company and international standards for final acceptance once tests are complete.
  • Carry out calculations to determine retirement thickness, corrosion rate and remaining service life. Based on anticipated equipment and piping retirement, recommend appropriate steps such as repairs, replacement or re-rating.
  • Perform quality inspections of new platform installation, commissioning and start-up through EPIC contractors.
  • Inspect modifications of existing platforms and structures, including platform modifications for workover jobs.
  • Inspect new subsea and onshore pipelines and processing facilities.
  • Undertake Asset Integrity Management program for onshore and offshore assets.

Reporting: Prepare reports in support of inspection activities.

  • Issue inspection reports (worksheets) based on inspection and testing results, and follow up on their execution.
  • Provide recommendations for corrective action in the operation and maintenance of facility components based on inspection results.

Control: Policy, procedure and risk mitigation.

  • Ensure a high level of HSE awareness among company and contract employees during work execution.
  • Maintain inspection files and records and keep them up to date.
  • Periodically review database information to ensure that appropriate equipment repairs or replacements are recommended, and that all required inspections and NDT are being conducted on schedule.
  • Perform surveillance audits on supplier quality management systems. Identify quality issues and request corrective or preventive action.
  • Ensure compliance with and proper application of company procedures and internal regulations, including those pertaining to confidential information, and recommend updates as needed.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering or equivalent.
