Duties
The Public Engagement Coordinator works under the direct supervision of the Academic and Professional Exchange Specialist or Public Affairs Officer (PAO) designee and has no supervisory responsibilities. Is one of the locally employed (LE) staff strategists/advisors responsible for the Mission’s Public Diplomacy (PD) engagement with audiences focused on Civic Engagement and Civil Society, including influential individuals and institutions such as think tanks, syndicates, labor unions, professional associations, civil society organizations, prominent academics, and professional training institutions. Recommends PD strategies to connect with audiences to build and sustain productive dialogue and promote an understanding of and support for U.S. policy. Plans, develops, coordinates, oversees, and evaluates projects and initiatives to engage subject matter experts and the audiences they reach with the portfolio encompassing civic engagement, civil society, good governance, rule of law, and diversity. Responsible for the Assistance for Europe, Eurasia, and Central Asia (AEECA) Small Grants program and all civil society development initiatives mission-wide.
Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: This position requires at least three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in a multilingual, multicultural, multinational, academic, or governmental work environment or not-for-profit sector, with communications, project management, or education duties as a significant part of the job. Experience with audience or market analysis, marketing, and managing social media content is required.
Education Requirements:
EDUCATION: A university degree in Political Science, Economics, International Relations, Communications, American Studies, or local equivalent or related major is required.

LANGUAGE:
- Fluent of English language is required. This may be tested.
- Fluent of Turkmen language is required. This may be tested.
- Fluent of Russian language is required. This may be tested.
