The United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy in Central Asia (UNRCCA) was established at the initiative of the five Central Asian states in December 2007. The goal of the UNRCCA is to assist the governments of the region in building their conflict prevention capacities through enhanced dialogue, confidence-building measures, and establishing partnerships in order to respond to existing threats and emerging challenges. For more information, please visit https://unrcca.unmissions.org/ This position is located within the Security Guard Force component of the Mission Support pillar of UNRCCA in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, and an incumbent will report directly to the Senior Security Guard/Team Leader and indirectly to the Administrative Officer.
Responsibilities
- Within the delegated authority, the Field Security Guard may be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
- Controls entry and ensures safety and security of the Mission’s premises, staff and UN-owned properties.
- Undertakes routine patrols of assigned areas, maintaining continual surveillance against fire, water leakage and any other occurrence which might damage premises or staff and keeps up to date records of patrols.
- Assists in the investigation and reporting on all incidents that involve a breach of security procedures, injures or theft and reports back to supervisor.
- ln case of incidents or emergencies in the Mission’s premises, instructs staff and visitors of security procedures including fire control procedures and evacuation where and when necessary; and ensures the physical security of premises and safety of staff eWB0mRU D9J4pA
- Issues building passes where appropriate, including visitors access control and vehicles movement in/out of the premises, as/when necessary.
- Opens and closes buildings, including office rooms and other facilities. Checks that all office machines, air conditioners, lights etc. are turned off after working hours.
- Responds to enquiries and provides appropriate information or suggests alternative sources of information.
- Maintains security personnel lists, including entry/exist register (a logbook at the main entrance) for movement of staff and visitors, and also incoming correspondences.
- Assists in liaising as necessary with police authorities, local administration, fire services and other emergency services.
- May be required to drive for UN officials and staff including delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items; meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport, performing visa and customs formalities when required.
- Performs other related duties and responsibilities, if/as necessary.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Job - Specific Qualification
- A valid driver's license is required.
Work Experience
- Minimum one (1) year of security experience is required Good knowledge of the city, local roads, and conditions where the office is located is required Knowledge of security rules, regulations, and procedures of the UN, including fire safety and first aid procedures, as well as standard security and safety procedures in order to undertake both patrols of buildings and grounds and routine monitoring and access control measures and requirements is desirable.
Languages
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in oral, written, and spoken Turkmen and Russian languages are required. Knowledge of English is desirable
