Turkmenistan Launches Program for Exporting Handcrafted Goods
Handicrafts Fair at the Berkarar Trade and Entertainment Center, August 18-21, 2023, Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and Turkmen entrepreneur Beghenchmurad Boveliyev announced the launch of the Export of Handcrafted Goods 2024 project, which aims to support local artisans in Turkmenistan.

This project will help Turkmen masters learn about international trade platforms and modern business practices. The program will emphasize training on popular marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, and Etsy.

Organizers designed the program to align with the specifics of traditional crafts in Turkmenistan while meeting the demands of the international market.

The two-month training program, scheduled to take place in Ashgabat, will include workshops on e-commerce, logistics, marketing, and social media promotion. Participants will gain practical skills in photography and videography to showcase their products and will access established international shipping channels.

The application period for the competitive selection runs until December 1, 2024, with a limited number of spots available.

Turkmenistan is renowned for its rich traditions in handicrafts, including carpet weaving, jewelry making, and artistic embroidery. The USAID project seeks to preserve these traditions by developing modern sales channels and supporting local artisans.
