The Turkmen delegation, led by Speaker of the Mejlis Dunyagozel Gulmanova, held bilateral and expanded talks with the Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Numan Kurtulmuş, on Tuesday during a working visit to Ankara, as reported by the press service of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, the sides emphasized the importance of the UN General Assembly resolution initiated by Turkmenistan, declaring 2025 as the "International Year of Peace and Trust." The Turkmen side expressed gratitude to Türkiye for supporting this initiative.
Gulmanova noted that the talks would contribute to the further development of interparliamentary relations. She highlighted Turkmenistan's high appreciation for its cooperation with Türkiye in this field and expressed readiness to deepen it.
The sides discussed the prospects for intensifying the work of interparliamentary friendship groups, cooperation between relevant committees, and engagement with young and female parliamentarians, as well as organizing joint events and consultations. It was noted that parliamentary dialogue is an important part of bilateral interaction and promotes the exchange of experience in lawmaking.
Gulmanova and Kurtulmuş also met with representatives of the media. During the talks, both sides highly praised the results achieved in bilateral cooperation, confirmed their intention to develop partnerships based on parliamentary diplomacy, and emphasized the importance of regular dialogue at the parliamentary level.
