President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov attended on Sunday celebrations marking the National Day of the Turkmen Horse at the International Ahal-Teke Equestrian Complex, according to Turkmen official media.

The head of state toured a themed exhibition featuring traditional yurts that recreated the lifestyle of ancient Turkmen settlements, as well as carpets, artworks, and museum pieces showcasing the centuries-old traditions of horse breeding. Horse adornments reflecting the rich heritage of Turkmen jewelry craftsmanship attracted special attention.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov also observed performances by masters of Goresh wrestling, who demonstrated strength, agility, and ancient combat techniques. The festive atmosphere was enhanced by pop artists and dance ensembles.

The highlight of the day was a series of horse races. In seven races over varying distances, the country’s best horses showcased their speed, endurance, and skill. The final race, covering 1,800 meters, was won by Bezirgen, a horse from the Presidential Ahal-Teke Equestrian Complex. Bezirgen was awarded the President of Turkmenistan’s Challenge Cup and valuable prizes.

The festivities concluded with an awards ceremony honoring winners of the long-distance marathon and show jumping competitions. Top jockeys received prizes, cash awards, and certificates. A special carpet created for the National Day of the Turkmen Horse was presented as a gift to the Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

On the same day, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Joel Bouzou, adviser to the Prince of Monaco and founder and president of the international organization Peace and Sport.
