The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Georgia, together with the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Georgia, organized an opening ceremony for an exhibition of Turkmen and Azerbaijani carpets at the “House of Ahunov” museum in Tbilisi on May 23, 2025, dedicated to the Turkmen Carpet Festival, according to the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Georgia.

The exhibition was attended by representatives of foreign diplomatic missions accredited in Georgia, members of the Georgian Parliament, ambassadors, officials from Georgian ministries and sector agencies, representatives of the Tbilisi city administration, the cultural sector, media, as well as Turkmen students studying at Georgian universities.

Guests were shown handwoven artistic carpets and carpet products, national jewelry, various souvenirs, and paintings.

Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Georgia, Dovletmyrat Seyitmammedov highlighted that the inclusion of the Turkmen carpet and the national carpet weaving art in UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list testifies to the timelessness of this art. He also noted that the exhibition is dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust as well as the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality.

Other speakers emphasized that joint cultural events play a significant role in preserving cultural heritage, spreading the ancient values and national arts of countries, and strengthening friendship and mutual understanding among peoples.

The exhibition will run until May 27 of this year.
