The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Georgia organized a cycling event on Monday to mark World Bicycle Day, observed annually on June 3.

The bike ride took place through the streets of Tbilisi and the ancient Georgian capital, Mtskheta, bringing together Georgian cyclists, coaches, and representatives of the Georgian National Cycling Federation, according to the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Georgia.

Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Georgia, Dowletmyrat Seyitmammedov, noted that the establishment of World Bicycle Day on Turkmenistan’s initiative has become a symbol of the country’s commitment to sustainable development and international cooperation.

Turkmen Ambassador added that this year’s ride was held not only in honor of World Bicycle Day, but also as part of the International Year of Peace and Trust and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality.

At the conclusion of the event, participants received commemorative gifts.

World Bicycle Day was established by the United Nations General Assembly on April 12, 2018, during its 72nd session. The initiative was introduced by Turkmenistan and supported by 56 member states.
