Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held talks on June 25 in Ashgabat with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The meeting focused on strengthening the strategic partnership and advancing joint economic and humanitarian initiatives. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to developing multifaceted cooperation between Turkmenistan and Russia, with particular emphasis on enhancing trade and economic ties and expanding cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
The ministers also discussed key regional and international issues, highlighting constructive coordination within the CIS, the Caspian Five, the “Central Asia + Russia” format, and the United Nations.
Following the talks, Meredov and Lavrov signed a cooperation program between the two foreign ministries for 2025–2026, aimed at deepening diplomatic dialogue and implementing joint initiatives.
On the same day, Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov.
