President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Saturday took part in the first high-level Central Asia–Japan Dialogue Summit in Tokyo, according to the newspaper Türkmenistan.
The summit was also attended by the presidents of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev; Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov; Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon; and Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as well as Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
Berdimuhamedov highlighted the countries’ shared commitment to long-term and sustainable partnerships and stressed the importance of further expanding cooperation between Central Asia and Japan, particularly in economic and investment areas.
Among the priority areas of multilateral cooperation, the Turkmen president cited the green transition, hydrogen energy, climate agenda, and development of transit and transport connectivity.
Participants discussed key issues for taking six-party engagement to a new level and exchanged proposals to advance political dialogue, business ties, and humanitarian exchanges.
The Central Asia–Japan Dialogue, established in 2004, serves as a key platform for Japan’s engagement with Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
