Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways (ADY) Rovshen Rustamov visited Turkmenbashi International Sea Port Wednesday to review its infrastructure, technical capabilities, and transit potential, the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Turkmenistan reported.

Rustamov also met with port director Parahat Jumayev. They discussed regional cargo transport, coordinated operations between the ports of Baku and Turkmenbashi, and dredging plans.

Officials said strengthening links between the Caspian and Black Seas boosts cargo volumes and improves efficiency along the Middle Route. They emphasized the importance of coordinating port operations within the Eurasian transport corridor to ensure fast and secure shipments.

Turkmenbashi International Sea Port is the largest among Caspian ports. It covers more than 150 hectares and handles up to 17 million tons of cargo annually, including 300,000 passengers, 75,000 trucks, 400,000 TEU containers, 3 million tons of bulk cargo, and 4 million tons of general cargo excluding oil products. The port includes a ferry-passenger terminal, container terminal, general cargo terminal, bulk cargo terminal, and polypropylene terminal.
