An event marking Tourism Week of Türkiye was held Tuesday at the Turkish Cultural Center in Ashgabat, bringing together representatives of the diplomatic corps, the tourism industry, cultural circles and the media. Türkiye’s Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Nadir Alpaslan attended the ceremony.

Opening the event, Nadir Alpaslan highlighted the importance of cultural dialogue between Turkmenistan and Türkiye, emphasizing the role of tourism as a tool for strengthening international ties and mutual understanding between nations.

The deputy minister pointed to the potential for developing routes along the Great Silk Road and turning the region into an attractive tourist destination.

Nadir Alpaslan noted that modern Türkiye offers a wide range of tourism segments, including archaeological, gastronomic, medical and religious tourism, forming a comprehensive and sustainable model for the sector.

The Deputy Minister stressed the need to expand tourism exchanges, attract investment, improve transport accessibility and strengthen cooperation between the public and private sectors.

Türkiye’s Ambassador to Turkmenistan Ahmet Demirok, in turn, said the country holds a significant place on the global tourism map due to its geographic location, natural diversity and cultural heritage.

A photo exhibition showcasing Türkiye’s natural landscapes and cultural landmarks was organized as part of the event. Guests were also offered national cuisine and traditional sweets.
