As part of his official visit to Turkmenistan, Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim visited the Independence Monument in Ashgabat and the Turkmenbashi Ruhy Mosque in the village of Kipchak on Friday, according to Turkmen state media.
Hyakim (mayor) of Ashgabat Rahym Gandymov welcomed the Malaysian Prime Minister at the Independence Monument. Anwar Ibrahim laid flowers at the monument and took part in a tree-planting ceremony on the Alley of Honoured Guests.
According to Turkmenistan’s official media, the current visit is aimed at further developing bilateral dialogue, which intensified following the official visit of the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, to Malaysia in 2024. It was also emphasized that the two countries support each other’s initiatives on international platforms, including within the framework of the United Nations.
Later, Anwar Ibrahim visited the Turkmenbashi Ruhy Mosque in Kipchak, where he was welcomed by the Mufti of Turkmenistan, Yalkap Khojaguliyev. The Prime Minister of Malaysia performed the Friday prayer and laid flowers at the mausoleum.
