A new Maternal and Child Health Center has opened in Balkanabat, while the renovated building of Mary’s City Health Center No. 1 has been put into operation, Turkmenistan’s official media reported.

The Balkan province Maternal and Child Health Center consists of four- and five-story buildings with a total capacity of 305 inpatient beds. Of these, 50 are allocated to the maternity and postpartum department, 50 to gynecology, 80 to the neonatal department and 10 to the anesthesiology and intensive care unit for newborns. The center also includes reception, consultation, diagnostic and laboratory departments.

For the first time in the province, a 10-bed anesthesiology and intensive care unit for newborns has been established. The unit is equipped with a Babylife BLF-2001 device from Hungary’s Medicor company to care for premature babies. The device recreates conditions similar to those in the womb. A German Proview-12 monitor allows continuous monitoring of a baby’s breathing, body temperature and blood pressure. The center’s operating rooms are equipped with modern technology, including computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, mammography and fluorography equipment. The facility was built by the Shadyan Gurlushyk business entity.

The opening of the new center in Balkanabat was carried out under the National Program “Healthy Mother – Healthy Child – Healthy Future” for 2026-2030, adopted by the President of Turkmenistan, according to Turkmen state media.

In Mary, the renovated two-story building of City Health Center No. 1 has also opened. It houses consultation and diagnostic, physiotherapy, laboratory, radiology, ultrasound and endoscopy departments, as well as rooms for family doctors. The center will provide health care services to residents in its designated service area. Construction and renovation work was carried out by the Yhlasa Ynam private enterprise.

At the opening ceremonies, skilled construction workers who had distinguished themselves during the projects were presented with gifts on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan. The Balkanabat center received specialized vehicles, while Mary’s City Health Center No. 1 was presented with a Mercedes-Benz mobile medical vehicle equipped with X-ray and fluorography equipment.
