Representatives of Turkmenistan’s mass media visited the Gallipoli Historical Site on the fourth day of their trip to Türkiye’s Çanakkale province, exploring museums, a field hospital exhibition area, military cemeteries and memorials associated with the Çanakkale campaign.

One of the sites visited by the delegation was the Alçıtepe 1915 Trench and Red Crescent Hospital Exhibition Area (Alçıtepe 1915 Siper ve Hilal-i Ahmer Hastanesi Canlandırma Alanı). The site recreates the trenches used during the 1915 Çanakkale campaign and a field hospital where wounded soldiers received medical care. The exhibition also features wax figures depicting the work of doctors, nurses and other health care workers during that period.

The Turkmen journalists also explored museums and historic structures dedicated to the Çanakkale campaign. Historical records, military equipment and reconstructed battlefield sites provide insight into the course of the campaign, soldiers’ living conditions and the events that took place during the fighting.

The delegation also visited the Çanakkale Martyrs’ Memorial (Çanakkale Şehitler Abidesi). Located on the Gallipoli Peninsula, the monument commemorates Turkish soldiers who lost their lives during the Çanakkale campaign. The memorial honors the fallen and recalls events that hold an important place in Türkiye’s history.

During the visit, the Turkmen journalists also explored military cemeteries and other memorials across the Gallipoli Historical Site. These sites play an important role in preserving the history of the Çanakkale campaign, honoring the soldiers who died in the fighting and passing the memory of these events on to future generations.

The four-day visit by representatives of Turkmenistan’s mass media to Türkiye’s Çanakkale and Balıkesir provinces provided an opportunity to discover the region’s rich cultural and historical heritage and distinctive landscapes. During the trip, the journalists visited ancient cities, historic landmarks, museums and remarkable natural sites, gaining insight into Türkiye’s culture, traditions and tourism opportunities. The journey offered memorable experiences and an opportunity to learn more about the historical and cultural ties that can be shared with readers.
