A delegation of the Islamic State of Afghanistan, led by the provincial governor of Herat, arrived on a 3-day visit to Turkmenistan on Tuesday.
The purpose of the visit of the delegation headed by Abdul Qayum Rahimi, head of the Herat province of the Islamic State of Afghanistan, is to discuss the expansion of economic and cultural cooperation between the Mary velayat of Turkmenistan and Herat province of Afghanistan.
During the visit, Mary Hotel hosted a meeting between Dovranberdi Annaberdiyev, the governor of the Mary velayat and Qayum Rahimi, the governor of the Herat province. The event was jointly organized by the representative office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan in Mary and the governor of the Mary velayat.
After the meeting, the delegates from the two provinces visited the exhibition of high-quality products manufactured by local entrepreneurs and individual enterprises. The exhibition was organized by the provincial branch of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan.
Hundreds of varieties of food products, and industrial, construction and household goods made by Turkmen companies Täze aý, Erkin Gurluşyk, Halal Dogan, Lälezar Zaman and Miweli Ülke attracted the attention of the visitors to the exhibition. The participants also showed interest in fruit juices of Ýüpekçi, shoes made by Röwşen company, detergents and perfumery products of Şa Tumar, and vegetables, fruits, berries and other crops grown by farmers of the Mary province.
Positively responding to the diverse products presented at the multi-disciplinary exhibition, the Afghan guests stressed the high quality of the products and huge potential for exports. In turn, the Turkmen businessmen presented the types and quality of their products and explained their production methods, noting the increasing demand in domestic and foreign markets.
The Afghan entrepreneurs noted their intention to link the markets of their country with products made in Turkmenistan.
During the meeting in the conference hall of the Mary Hotel, the representatives of the two countries also discussed opportunities for cooperation in economic, cultural, trade and business, sports and tourism spheres, and the organization of friendly visits between the two provinces.
After the meeting, the parties concluded agreements to strengthen cooperation in the economic, cultural and humanitarian areas, as well as to develop mutually beneficial cooperation between the Mary velayat and Herat province, marking an important step in further strengthening the Turkmen-Afghan relations.
During the visit, the Afghan guests also visited ancient fortresses located in the State Historical and Cultural Park “Ancient Merv”.
