A civil defense faculty and a department of civil defense in construction works and chemical industry security will be opened at the Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute within the established staff list of the Defense Ministry. The corresponding Decree was signed by President of Turkmenistan and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Wednesday, the country’s official media reported.
The Decree was signed to strengthen building resistance to natural disasters and emergencies, to prevent such situations, and to train military specialists with advanced training in civil defense.
According to the document, the Defense Ministry, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, was instructed to develop and approve the department's regulations.
The document also directed the Ministries of Education, Defense, and Justice to prepare and submit proposals to the Cabinet of Ministers within a month to make amendments and additions to Turkmen legislation in response to this Decree.
The document states that admission to the Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute's Civil Defense Department will begin in the academic year 2023-2024.
