President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received representatives of the US business delegation in Ashgabat on Wednesday, the official Turkmen media reported.
The meeting was attended by Eric Stewart, Executive Director of the Turkmenistan-US Business Council, Bryce Razan, Vice President of sales of gas turbine equipment in Europe, the Middle East and Africa at General Electric Gas Power; Chaba Leiko, Head of strategic partnership development for Central Asia at John Deere; John Rizzi, Vice President of Nicklaus Companies; Antonio Mugica, founder and CEO of Smartmatic; Nikolai Yurchenko, General Director of Westport Trading Europe Limited; and Duke Kim, COO of UGT Renewables.
The businessmen stated that the US business community tries to further develop cooperation with Turkmenistan, which has great economic potential.
President Berdimuhamedov noted that the visit of the Head of the joint business council, led by a delegation of US businessmen, is seen as a sign that US business groups are trying to expand mutually beneficial cooperation in Turkmenistan. The Turkmen President also expressed confidence that during their visit to Ashgabat, US partners will have an opportunity to meet with their Turkmen counterparts and exchange views on promising areas of cooperation.
During the meeting, the sides emphasized that Turkmen-American relations are traditionally friendly, and reaffirmed willingness to expand cooperation in trade, investment, and business community.
The businessmen thanked the Turkmen leader for trust and informative discussion, reaffirming the American business community's desire to strengthen its position in the promising Turkmen market and participate in new joint projects.
Summing up the meeting, President Berdimuhamedov and the US business community expressed confidence that the meeting will be a significant step toward the rapid development of effective and long-term trade and economic relations based on mutual interests.
