Turkmenistan’s Production of Agricultural and Food Products Surges by 29.2%

The Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan reported a 29 percent increase in production of agricultural and food products in the first four months of 2021, compared to the same period last year, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Batyr Atdayev said in his report to President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held on Thursday on the digital system.

According to the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations, the turnover growth for the reporting period compared to the same period 2022 amounted to 104.3 percent, and production - 104.8 percent. The growth of products manufactured by enterprises of the Ministry of Textile Industry, including cotton yarn and fabrics was 105.6 and 114.8 percent respectively, with sewing and knitwear - 102.1 percent, and leather products - 117 percent. 

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov pointed to the need to create an abundance of food products at markets and retail outlets, to preserve price stability and instructed the Vice Premier to control the work carried out in this direction.

Focusing attention on the work of the textile industry, the Head of State tasked the Deputy Prime Minister to increase the volume and assortment of goods produced by the enterprises of the Textile Ministry, to bring these enterprises up to design capacity as well as to increase exports in the private sector. 

At a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, the work of national industries for four months of this year was summed up.
