Turkmenistan sent humanitarian aid to Afghanistan with medicines, medical supplies, food, and textile products weighing about 125 tons on Thursday, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported.

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Sunday signed a Decree to send humanitarian aid to the people of Afghanistan with the help of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Fund for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship.

The Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan has announced that a team of health professionals from the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry will begin providing medical and consultancy services at the maternity hospital built as humanitarian aid in the village of Turgundi in Herat province, Afghanistan on May 15.

This initiative is seen as a part of the country's long-standing commitment to help Afghanistan, founded upon the traditional humanistic values of the Turkmen people, and serves to strengthen the friendly, brotherly, and neighborly ties between the two nations.
