President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received on Tuesday Margareta Söderfelt, Head of OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the official Turkmen media reported.
Margareta Söderfelt, Head of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, affirmed the OSCE PA's interest in sustaining their successful relationship with neutral Turkmenistan. President Berdimuhamedov highlighted that her visit to Ashgabat included an International Conference dedicated to the value of neutrality in confronting current issues.
Both sides stressed the significance of coordinating efforts for financial growth, secure international energy supplies, and environmental protection and resource efficiency. Furthermore, the parties discussed the need to continue exchanging knowledge in human rights protection and work together to bolster democratic systems and the rule of law.
To conclude the meeting, President Berdimuhamedov and Söderfelt agreed to expand their established partnership and increase constructive inter-parliamentary relations by adding new content.
The Mejlis (Parliament) of Turkmenistan jointly with the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe held an international conference titled "Role of Neutral States in Strengthening Security, Stability and Dialogue in the OSCE Region" on Tuesday at Yyldyz Hotel in Ashgabat.
