Turkmenistan and Russia Exchange Experience in Classification of Goods

Representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the Federal Customs Service of Russia on Wednesday exchanged experience in an online meeting to develop a system of goods classification codes following the Commodity Nomenclature of Foreign Economic Activities, the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan reported on its official website.

The meeting was held within the Plan of Joint Actions for 2022-2024 to further deepen and expand cooperation between the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the Federal Customs Service of Russia.

Officials of the Federal Customs Service of Russia provided information on the Commodity Nomenclature of Foreign Economic Activity used by the Federal Customs Service, the work of the system of commodity classification, the responsible structures appointed in this area, and their activities.

The legal basis for the Commodity Nomenclature of Foreign Economic Activity is the International Convention on the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System of the World Customs Organization. Turkmenistan acceded to this Convention following the Law adopted by the Mejlis of Turkmenistan on March 16 this year.

According to the report, currently, the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan is working to improve the system of classification of goods following the Commodity Terminology of Foreign Economic Activity.
