The National Barcode Organization of Turkmenistan (GS1 Turkmenistan) started registering companies and goods in the international catalog of manufacturers and retailers in the Global Registry, the press service of NOTBC reported on Wednesday.

This activity is connected with the new global initiative of world retailers and leading commodity producers of world brands, which use the standards of the international organization GS1.

The concept of the Global Registry, which began on July 1, 2023, creates an international catalog of goods, that provides transparency of the supply chain from the manufacturer to the consumer and fights against counterfeit products.

The improved unified information base on goods in GS1 Turkmenistan will help eliminate the costs of multiple entries of data on goods, eliminate errors, and ensure uniformity of information on goods throughout the supply chain, as well as automatically control and provide consumers with information on documents confirming the quality and safety of goods.

In order to work in this direction, Turkmen companies and commodity producers need to provide the organization with photos of the products produced according to a certain sample.

The National Organization of Turkmenistan on Bar Codes (NOTBC) was established on March 27, 2014. In May 2015, the NOTBC received the status of a full member of the international organization GS1, headquartered in Brussels, with 119 national organizations globally, and received the right to use the brand "GS1 Turkmenistan".
