The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on Friday met with the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the trilateral summit of the leaders of Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan,.
The Halk Maslakhaty Chairman warmly welcomed the Uzbek President at Ashgabat International Airport and expressed gratitude for the accepted invitation to visit Turkmenistan, the official Turkmen media reports.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the summit talks to be held within the framework of the visit will provide an opportunity to exchange views on the prospects of development of trilateral dialog between Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, expansion of their interaction in political, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian and other spheres.
Then, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rakhmon at Ashgabat International Airport. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov thanked Emomali Rahmon for accepting the invitation from President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to visit Turkmenistan.
The meeting discussed the current state of relations between Turkmenistan and Tajikistan and considered prospects for further development of cooperation between the two countries.
A trilateral summit will be held in Ashgabat on Friday.
