President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with Kaha Imnadze, the newly appointed Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General and Head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA), on Monday at the Serdar Hotel in the Turkmenistan’s Avaza National Tourist Zone, the official Turkmen media reports.
Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to meet, Kaha Imnadze conveyed warm greetings from the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and his kind wishes to the people of Turkmenistan.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked Kaha Imnadze for the wishes and extended greetings and good wishes to the UN Secretary-General. The Head of State also congratulated Kaha Imnadze on his appointment as the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and the Head of UNRCCA.
During the meeting, it was stated that dynamically developing Central Asia is one of the strategically important regions in the world. In this context, it was emphasized that the Regional Center, established at the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the People's Council (Halk Maslahaty) Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, successfully carries out preventive diplomacy, develops new formats of interaction, and implements specific programs. Over the years, effective work has been done to contribute to stability, peaceful conflict resolution, and the strengthening of trust between the regional countries.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence in the successful continuation of the important work of the UNRCCA and emphasized that strengthening and expanding multifaceted partnership with the UN is one of the main directions of Turkmenistan's foreign policy.
At the end of the meeting, President Berdimuhamedov and the UN Special Representative Kaha Imnadze expressed confidence that the longstanding partnership between Turkmenistan and the UN will continue to develop successfully in the name of global peace, prosperity, and progress.
