President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the State of Palestine Riyadh al-Maliki in Ashgabat on Friday. During the meeting, Riyadh al-Maliki conveyed to the Turkmen President the greetings of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and his invitation to visit Palestine, the official Turkmen media reports.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov conveyed greetings and good wishes to President Mahmoud Abbas, as well as words of gratitude for the invitation to visit Palestine and noted that one of the priority vectors of the country's foreign policy course is the development of fruitful interaction with the countries of the Middle East.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that there are ample opportunities for the development of mutually beneficial trade-economic partnership. As effective practical steps in this direction were outlined the holding of relevant bilateral consultations, creation of necessary conditions for establishing close contacts between representatives of the private sector of both countries.
The same day, Riyadh al-Maliki held a meeting with the Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov at the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan.
The meeting resulted in the signing of the Protocol on Political Consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the State of Palestine and the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the State of Palestine on the establishment of a joint governmental committee.
