Turkmenistan's Foreign Trade Increases by 4.9% in Jan-Jul 2023

Turkmenistan's foreign trade turnover saw a 4.9 percent increase in January-July of this year, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers for Economic and Financial Affairs Hojamyrat Geldimyradov reported to the President Serdar Berdimuhamedov during the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Friday.

In his report on macroeconomic indicators for January-July 2023, the Deputy Prime Minister said GDP grew by 6.2 percent compared to the same period last year. The volume of production compared to the same period last year increased by 6.3 percent, the country’s official media reports

According to the report, the volume of retail turnover compared to the same period last year is up 9.4 percent, and the fulfillment of the state budget's revenue and expenditure parts in the eight months amounted to 113 and 97.9 percent respectively.

The volume of investments in Turkmenistan from all sources of funding in the first seven months of this year grew by 27.6 percent compared to the same period last year.

Following the report, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the need to carry out relevant work to maintain a high GDP growth rate.

Additionally, in accordance with Article 40 of the Social Protection Code, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a decree to regulate the assignment of personal pensions to citizens of Turkmenistan for special services to the country.

The document provides for the establishment of a commission under the President of Turkmenistan for the appointment of personal pensions and the Procedure for the appointment of personal pensions for special services to Turkmenistan.
