The Balkan Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant of Turkmenistan will build two dry cargo ships for the Türkmendeňizderýaýollary (Turkmen Maritime and River Transport) Agency, the country’s official media reported on Thursday.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a Decree authorizing the Türkmendeňizderýaýollary Agency of the Agency of Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan to conclude a contract with the Balkan Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant Open Joint Stock Company for the construction of two dry-cargo vessels.
According to the report, the document was adopted in order to improve the material and technical base of the transport industry.
The plant covering 166 thousand square meters has the capacity to process 10 thousand tons of steel per year to build 4-6 vessels using modern technological equipment and automated systems that meet international standards.
