Korea’s KOMEA and KSIT Look to Design Two Turkmen Ships

The management of Türkmendeňizderýaýollary (Turkmen Maritime and River Transport) Agency held a meeting with representatives of the Korea Marine Equipment. Association (KOMEA) and Koryo Shipbuilding Industry Technology. Co., Ltd. (KSIT). During the meeting the parties discussed the development of project of construction of two dry cargo ships at the Balkan Shipbuilding and Repair Plant, the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan announced on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the sides discussed matters related to planning and implementation of projects in the shipbuilding industry aimed at developing Turkmenistan's marine merchant fleet. The participants paid special attention to the projects on construction of dry-cargo vessels and ferries.

The KSIT representatives were presented with a wide range of opportunities and modern equipment available at the Turkmen shipyard. Representatives of KOMEA and KSIT expressed confidence in the prospects of cooperation and noted the high level of professionalism of local specialists and the use of modern technologies.

KOMEA is affiliated with the country's Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy. Its members include over 286 heavy industry companies. It provides its members with a wide range of services such as shipbuilding design, supply of equipment and materials, and implementation of advanced scientific and technological developments. KSIT specializes in the design, construction and repair of ships.
