Turkmenistan’s Marine Merchant Fleet CJSC transported more than 1.5 million tons of cargoes in January-August this year.

According to the press service of the company, the company’s eight-month production plan for cargo transportation was fulfilled by 130.1 percent.

Cargo turnover for January-August 2023 amounted to 626.355 million ton-kilometers, which is 25.4 percent higher than in the same period of 2022, and the plan for the cargo turnover for January-August was fulfilled by 227.4 percent.

Passenger turnover for the period exceeded the figures for the same period of 2022 by 165.5 percent and amounted to 6,194 passenger-kilometers.

The number of transported containers for the designated period amounted to 2,773 TEU, having increased 2.6 times.

The acceleration of growth rates was mainly due to an increase in export volumes of crude oil, oil products and bulk cargo. This is due to incentivizing shippers to increase shipments with reliable and stable vessels offering preferential discounts. As the country's national carrier, the company provides privileges to promote exports and increase transportation volumes.
