Turkmenistan Admits 1.3 Thousand Stateless Persons to Citizenship

Turkmenistan has granted citizenship to 1,301 stateless persons residing in the country, according to the Decree signed by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov during an online cabinet meeting on Friday.

The Head of State also signed the Decree on granting 265 persons residence permits in Turkmenistan, official Turkmen media reported.

Persons who received Turkmenistan citizenship represent 32 ethnic groups. Persons who received residence permits are citizens of 13 countries and representatives of 25 ethnic groups.

Last year, 1,530 stateless persons of 26 nationalities permanently residing in the country have been granted the citizenship of Turkmenistan.
