President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Thursday in Ashgabat held a meeting with the Secretary General of the Paris-based International Bureau of Exhibitions (BIE) Dimitri Kerkentzes, the official Turkmen media reports.
The sides exchanged views on the future directions of cooperation in the field of exhibition and fair activities, held under the BIE auspices. The meeting also discussed opportunities to study the best practices in this area.
The Head of State stated that Turkmenistan is implementing program measures to develop international trade and economic cooperation, stressing the recent adoption of the Concept of International Exhibition Activities of Turkmenistan for 2024-2025, which envisages the further expansion of cooperation with the BIE.
President Berdimuhamedov congratulated the BIE Secretary General on the start of the international horticultural exhibition Expo 2023 Doha in Qatar on October 2 this year, and expressed best wishes for the successful work of the forum.
According to the report, this international expo includes a pavilion of Turkmenistan, and will host the National Day of Turkmenistan on October 9.
The Turkmen President stated the country's interest in participating in the World EXPO 2025 Osaka, Japan, stressing that the established organizing committee is carrying out relevant work in this direction.
The BIE Secretary General Dimitri Kerkentzes, in turn, noted that he had visited the Turkmen pavilion at the Expo 2023 Doha, which left a great impression.
At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and his guest expressed confidence in further intensification of effective cooperation and exchanged wishes for good health and great success in their work.
