Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, speaking at the CIS Heads of State Summit in Bishkek, suggested paying attention to the issues of debt obligations and mutual settlements, Turkmen media reported.

"Today, amid the global economic crisis instability in the global fuel and energy market, we consider it necessary to consider the financial component of our cooperation seriously. We suggest paying attention to the issues of debt obligations and mutual settlements, holding special consultations on their solution," the President of Turkmenistan emphasised.

During the CIS Council of Heads of State meeting in Ashgabat, a significant event occurred in 2019 with the signing of the Declaration on Strategic Economic Cooperation among CIS member states. This initiative was spearheaded by Turkmenistan and served as the foundation for the subsequent development of the CIS Economic Development Strategy until 2030, as highlighted by the head of state.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov highlighted the relevance of the projects initiated by Turkmenistan to diversify energy transport and communication components in the context of developing large-scale infrastructure corridors "North-South" and "East-West" for the Commonwealth countries.

He also noted that Ashgabat attaches great importance to the expansion of logistics opportunities in relation to transport routes of the Caspian-Black Sea and Asia-Pacific regions, as well as with the countries of the Persian Gulf and the Middle East.

In addition, the President of Turkmenistan emphasised that Turkmenistan supports the declaration of Samarkand as the cultural capital of the Commonwealth in 2024.
