Turkmenistan is working to expand the geography and volumes of international supplies of Turkmen natural gas and electricity, said Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the national leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan. He was speaking in Beijing at a high-level conference on interconnectivity as part of the Third International Forum One Belt, One Road.
"Today, we are working on expanding the geography and volumes of international supplies of Turkmen natural gas and electricity. Power transmission and fibre-optic communication lines from Turkmenistan to Afghanistan and Pakistan have been laid. Several other major projects are on the agenda of cooperation in these segments," the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Chairman emphasized.
In addition, the National Leader of the Turkmen people spoke about Turkmenistan's main environmental policy directions.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasised that one of the main priorities of Turkmenistan's international cooperation is to find an optimal balance between production activity and environmental protection and ensure environmental safety.
The Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan also confirmed that an essential component of Turkmenistan's environmental strategy is to reduce and eliminate the negative impact of carbon dioxide and methane emissions on the atmosphere.
