The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, met with the President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, at the House of People's Assembly, reported by Turkmenistan's official media on Thursday.

During the meeting, the sides reviewed the main areas of cooperation between Turkmenistan and China, which continues to develop at the bilateral and multilateral levels, focusing on a long-term perspective.

The National Leader of the Turkmen people emphasised Turkmenistan's strong determination to strengthen the brotherly and friendly relations with China. The strategic partnership between the two countries continues to develop consistently, confidently, and purposefully across all areas. The National Leader highlighted that the expansion and development of this partnership are built upon the deep historical ties of friendship and good neighbourliness between the Turkmen and Chinese peoples. These ties are characterised by mutual sympathy, respect, and shared values.

Furthermore, the National Leader pointed out the alignment of the two countries' positions on key international political issues, further strengthening their partnership. The solid legal basis for cooperation and significant mutual economic potential were essential factors in fostering the bilateral relationship.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov confirmed that Turkmenistan is determined to continue strengthening fraternal and friendly relations with China and is willing to continue mutual work in political, economic, and humanitarian fields.

After the meeting, Khalk Maslakhaty Chairman Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed bilateral documents within the framework of his working visit to China.

Among the documents signed were an agreement on technical and economic cooperation between the government of Turkmenistan and the government of the People's Republic of China and a memorandum of understanding between the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China on cooperation in capacity building of the Authorised Economic Operators Programme.
