The State Concern Turkmengaz (Turkmen Gas) is negotiating with international investors on the second and third stages of development of the world's largest field, Galkynysh, announced by Deputy Chairman of the State Concern Turkmengaz at the plenary session of the International Conference "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan - 2023" on Wednesday.
According to the deputy chairman of Turkmengaz, significant results in this area are expected in 2024.
In addition, Turkmenistan exports 2 billion cubic metres of gas to Uzbekistan and 3 billion cubic metres of Turkmen gas is exported to Azerbaijan through swap deliveries via Iran.
The Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline is one of the main routes for exporting Turkmen energy resources to the world market. At present, the carrying capacity of branches A, B, and C of the Turkmen-China gas pipeline is 40 billion cubic metres, and according to the agreement reached earlier, with the construction of the 4th branch of this gas pipeline, the annual volume of natural gas supplied will increase to 65 billion cubic metres.
The fourth branch of the gas pipeline originates in Turkmenistan and runs to China via Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan. Under the agreement, the second phase of the Galkynysh gas field development will send 25 billion cubic metres of natural gas to China through this branch. Approval of the contract for setting the second stage is at the final stage.
In early October, the State Concern Turkmengaz and the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity signed a memorandum on natural gas supplies. The Iraqi side is ready to accept Turkmen natural gas in about 10 billion cubic metres annually.
