UN General Assembly Adopts Two Turkmenistan-Initiated Resolutions

The UN General Assembly, at the 49th plenary meeting of the 78th session held on December 19 this year, unanimously adopted two resolutions initiated by Turkmenistan - on energy and transport, the official Turkmen media reported on Thursday.

According to the report, 38 states co-sponsored the resolution: The Key Role of Reliable and Stable Energy Connectivity in Ensuring Sustainable Development.

The resolution calls for continued international cooperation to ensure reliable and stable energy connectivity at the national, regional and global levels to promote economic integration and sustainable development, particularly in sustainable development to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy.

Another resolution titled "Strengthening the links between all modes of transport to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals" received co-sponsorship from 47 States.

This resolution calls upon Member States to support the continued operation and strengthening of the transport system and infrastructure in all relevant aspects necessary for sustainable development.

On September 19, 2023, in his address to the plenary meeting of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov highlighted the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in the field of transport as one of the priority areas.
