The Russian Ministry of Economic Development monitors 36 projects with Russian participation in Turkmenistan, Deputy Minister of Economic Development Dmitry Volvach said during the 9th meeting of the High-Level Group on Trade and Investment Support held on December 21-22 in Moscow within the framework of the Intergovernmental Russian-Turkmen Commission on Economic Cooperation, the Russian Ministry of Economic Development announced on Monday.
Kerimberdi Kurbanov, the Deputy Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan, represented the Turkmen delegation, and Dmitry Volvach represented the Russian delegation.
According to the report, these projects amount to approximately 255 billion rubles. Among them, 11 projects are currently in the operation stage, 21 are in the investment stage, and 10 are in active implementation.
The implementation of projects focuses on various sectors, such as the supply of multiple goods, infrastructure development, oil and gas, and metallurgy.
Dmitry Volvach, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia, added that Russian companies are interested in expanding cooperation in modernisation, reconstruction and construction of new energy facilities in Turkmenistan, in cooperation in shipbuilding, supply of mining equipment and trunk freight three-section diesel locomotives to Turkmenistan, in the reconstruction of the car repair plant in the city of Gyzylarbat, as well as in the implementation of future projects on modernisation and electrification of railway lines of Turkmenistan.
At the end of the meeting, the participants discussed in detail the Intergovernmental Russian-Turkmen Commission on Economic Cooperation meeting, which will be held at the end of January 2024 in Ashgabat.
