Turkmen President Appoints New Prosecutor General of Turkmenistan
Newly appointed Prosecutor General of Turkmenistan Begmurat Rahmanguliyevich Muhamedov takes the military oath, January 16, 2024, Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, during an extended off-site State Security Council meeting on Tuesday, signed decrees conferring military and special ranks to leaders of the country's military and law enforcement, the official Turkmen media reports.

The decision of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces, Army General Serdar Berdimuhamedov, made with the Mejlis of Turkmenistan's consent, dismisses Prosecutor General Serdar Gurbangulyevich Malykgulyyev due to performance issues and low-level of organization of prosecutorial duties. 

Begmurat Rahmangulyyevich Muhamedov, a State Counselor of Justice, 3rd Class, is appointed as the new Prosecutor General. 

Military appointments include police rank for Colonel Muhammet Allamyradovich Hydyrov, and Major General ranks for Colonels Nazar Muhammetmyradovich Atagarayev, Maksat Agamyradovich Hudaykuliyev, and Yazgeldi Byashimovich Nuryyev, representing ministers of internal affairs, national security, State Customs Service, and State Border Service, respectively.

State Counselor of Justice, 3rd Class, is conferred upon Meretagan Gurbanurdyevich Taganov, Minister of Justice, and the military rank of Colonel to Amanmuhammet Shyhgulyyevich Sazakov, Deputy Chairman of the State Migration Service. 

The State Security Council's expanded off-site meeting reviewed the 2023 activities of military and law enforcement agencies, outlining priority tasks. 

Discussions encompassed ensuring peace and security, fortifying the security forces' material and technical base, and continual improvement of their operations.
