A meeting held in Ashgabat between representatives of Turkmendemiryollary (Turkmen Railways) Agency and Russia's JSC Russian Railways on Tuesday marked discussions on the introduction of an innovative route connecting Ashgabat to the city of Arkadag. The proposed route will feature an electric regional passenger express train, promising an incredibly swift travel time of just 18 minutes from the capital to Arkadag.

As reported by Turkmenistan Habarlar Portaly, the discussions delved into broader topics, including the advancement of transportation along the eastern route of the North-South International Transport Corridor and the execution of infrastructure projects, notably the refurbishment of the railway repair plant in Gyzylarbat.

In a bid to bolster Turkmen-Russian collaboration in the transportation sector, the parties outlined plans to establish a unified logistics operator and inaugurate a representative office of JSC Russian Railways in Turkmenistan.

Subsequent to the meeting, the parties formalized additional agreements between RZD Logistics JSC and the Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan JSC. Corresponding documents were exchanged between RZD International LLC and Demiryollary JSC, as well as between RZD Logistics JSC and Transport and Logistics Center JSC, signaling the initiation of the car repair plant reconstruction project in Gyzylarbat.
