Turkmen-Afghan Business Forum Discuss Rational Use of Transboundary Water Resources

The Turkmen-Afghan Business Forum in Ashgabat on Monday addressed the utilization of water resources, including transboundary water resources.

According to Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry, during the forum, both sides presented key approaches and principles for the rational use of the region's water environment.

In his address, Afghanistan's Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce Alhaj Nooruddin Azizi emphasized that Kabul would adhere to principles of mutual agreement, equality, and mutual respect with neighboring countries, especially Turkmenistan, in the construction of water facilities and the use of transboundary hydro resources. He acknowledged Turkmenistan's long-standing support for Afghanistan, fostering friendly neighborly relations.

As reported, Turkmenistan emphasized its interest in collaborating with Afghanistan in the agro-industrial complex and agriculture, aiming to strengthen bilateral ties in these sectors and explore new forms of partnership.
Azizi addressed the development of trade and economic relations between the two nations. He expressed Afghan entrepreneurs' desire for the further advancement of trade ties with Turkmenistan. This includes increasing trade volumes, cooperation in Afghan infrastructure development, utilizing transit opportunities for exporting products to various regions, and facilitating the transit of Turkmen goods through Afghanistan.

The Turkmen-Afghan Business Forum and the Exhibition of Afghan Goods kicked off on March 4 at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan. A delegation led by Afghanistan's Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce, Alhaj Nooruddin Azizi, consisting of over 300 representatives from governmental structures, chambers of commerce, banks, and around 170 companies and enterprises attended the events in Ashgabat.
