Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, held a meeting on Monday in Ashgabat with a delegation from Afghanistan. During the meeting, Alhaj Nooruddin Azizi, the Acting Minister of Industry and Trade of Afghanistan, expressed Afghanistan's interest in utilizing the transit capabilities of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport.
According to Turkmenistan's official media, the discussions took place within the framework of an exhibition showcasing Afghan products at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan. The meeting addressed issues related to fuel-energy structures, trade, the economy, and other crucial sectors of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan. Ahmed Çalık, the Chairman of the Board of Çalık Holding Group, also participated in the meeting.
Alhaj Nooruddin Azizi highlighted Turkmenistan's rich experience in organizing international events, expressing Afghanistan's keen interest in learning from this experience and implementing joint projects.
Emphasizing the importance of large-scale projects in trade, economy, fuel-energy, and transportation sectors, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, noted the significant role played by the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) power transmission line, and railway networks.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov acknowledged that the presented proposals would be thoroughly considered, and Turkmenistan would continue to provide close support to Afghanistan in its socio-economic and cultural development.
The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan also visited an exhibition featuring Afghan products at the exhibition hall of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Ashgabat.
The Afghan product exhibition in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, commenced on March 4 and will continue until March 6, 2024.
