On March 12, Ashgabat hosted the 15th session of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) under the chairmanship of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, who is also a member of the OTS Council of Elders, as reported by Turkmenistan's official media.
In the opening remarks, the National Leader of the Turkmen People thanked the participants for accepting the invitation to participate in the 15th session of the OTS Council of Elders and warmly congratulated them on the beginning of the sacred month of Ramadan.
"The Council of Elders serves as a wise assistant and advisor to the work of the Organization of Turkic States and its leaders. Our experience and knowledge contribute to making thoughtful and strategic decisions at the state level," noted Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
Addressing energy matters, Berdimuhamedov highlighted the existing promising opportunities for supplying Turkmen natural gas and electricity to Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Türkiye. According to the National Leader, Turkmenistan will continue to support brotherly countries in matters of energy security. Furthermore, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan expressed confidence that in the future, the creation of a unified electricity transmission system operating on a permanent basis will be possible.
During the meeting, the elders exchanged views on more important issues of mutual interest.
Particular attention was given to further popularizing the history of the Turkic world through the development of scientific cooperation, academic research, and the organization of joint international conferences.
At the end of the session, the Council of Elders adopted the Communique of the 15th session.
