Deputy Prime Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan and Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov held a meeting on Thursday with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian. During the meeting, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian announced that Iran is ready to host the third economic conference of Caspian countries at the prime ministerial level, as reported by the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The meeting discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres.
In the course of the negotiations, the Iranian Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation between the two countries in the fields of energy, transit, and transportation.
Hossein Amir-Abdollahian referred to the Caspian Sea as a zone of constructive cooperation among the littoral states. The diplomat also considers it necessary to continue discussions on legal, security, and economic issues concerning the Caspian Sea.
Speaking about the positive bilateral relations, the Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov interpreted the meetings of top officials from both countries, including presidents and foreign ministers, as a sign of strong ties and close relations between the two nations.
The heads of the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and Iran emphasized the importance of expanding economic cooperation in the Caspian region and increasing the volume of bilateral exchanges.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian announced preparations for the upcoming visit of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to Ashgabat during a press conference held on Thursday following his visit to Turkmenistan.
