The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of Turkmenistan's Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during a meeting with Tajikistan's Prime Minister Kohir Rasulzoda in Dushanbe on Friday stated that it is advisable to continue exploring the possibilities of resuming direct and transit flights between Turkmenistan and Tajikistan.
According to Turkmenistan's official media, the National Leader of the Turkmen people expressed confidence that the meeting with the Prime Minister of Tajikistan will contribute to strengthening Turkmen-Tajik relations, covering a wide range of areas.
During the meeting, the National Leader of the Turkmen people and the Prime Minister of Tajikistan emphasized several key areas of intergovernmental cooperation, which were discussed during the negotiations with President Emomali Rahmon on April 4th. As noted by the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, this includes the formation of a transport route towards Tajikistan–Uzbekistan–Turkmenistan–Iran–Turkey, as well as the possibility of organizing a multimodal transport corridor from China to Turkmenistan through the territories of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, with access to the ports of the Caspian Sea and the Persian Gulf.
As reported, systematic Turkmen-Tajik cooperation also extends to water management within the framework of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission and the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea. The National Leader of the Turkmen people highlighted the importance of intensifying this partnership with the involvement of other relevant parties.
Additionally, on the second day of his visit to Dushanbe, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held meetings with President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and with the Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon Majlisi Oli of Tajikistan Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloev.
