President Serdar Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan welcomed Shalva Papuashvili, the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, in Ashgabat on Tuesday. During the meeting, President Berdimuhamedov invited the Georgian Parliament leader to participate in the International Forum of Heads of State and Government dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Pyragy, scheduled for October 11th in Ashgabat, as reported by Turkmenistan's official media.
Expressing sincere gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan for the invitation, Shalva Papuashvili emphasized that the works of Magtymguly Pyragy are not only a priceless national heritage but also an integral part of the treasury of world culture.
The meeting noted with satisfaction that the relations between Turkmenistan and Georgia, based on the principles of equality and mutual respect, have traditionally been friendly.
In the context of exchanging views on priority areas of interstate cooperation, the effective nature of interaction in the trade and economic sphere was highlighted, including in sectors such as energy, industry, and healthcare. Partnership in the field of transportation and logistics was also identified as one of the main directions.
Furthermore, the President of Turkmenistan reaffirmed the country's readiness for further expansion and strengthening of bilateral relations with Georgia, as well as to develop fruitful cooperation in all areas of mutual interest for the benefit of the fraternal peoples. Warm greetings and best wishes were conveyed to the President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili and Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.
At the conclusion of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili wished each other health and success, and to the peoples of both countries – prosperity and well-being.
