38th OSJD Conference Kicks Off in Ashgabat

The 38th session of the Conference of heads and responsible representatives of railway transport enterprises of the member countries of the Organization for Cooperation of Railways (OSJD) kicked off on Monday at the Yyldyz Hotel in the city of Ashgabat.

According to the Turkmen Railways agency, the opening session featured a congratulatory message from the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, to the participants of the 38th session of the Conference of heads and responsible representatives of railway transport enterprises of the member countries of the Organization for Cooperation of Railways.

The agenda includes reviewing the results of the activities of specialized commissions and permanent working groups of the Organization for the year 2023, discussing the Work Program for the coming years, considering the feasibility of developing a Development Strategy for the Organization, professional training and education of railway system workers, as well as other related issues.

During the opening ceremony of the international event, the Director-General of the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Mammethan Chakyyev, highlighted Turkmenistan's unique location at the crossroads of Central Asia and Europe.

Additionally, issues aimed at strengthening effective cooperation under the Agreement on International Transit Tariff, and its improvement and updating for the sake of universal prosperity and progressive development, will be addressed.
