Myrat Archayev, Deputy Chairman of the Türkmengaz (Turkmen Gas) State Concern, met with Managing Director of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), Majid Chegeni, during the 28th Iran International Oil, Gas, Refining, and Petrochemical Exhibition (Iran Oil Show 2024) in Tehran. During the meeting, the Iranian side expressed readiness to enhance cooperation with Turkmenistan in gas swaps and exporting technical services.

Archayev, in turn, expressed interest in strengthening ties with Iran through energy swaps and allowing Iranian companies to undertake projects in Turkmenistan, as reported by Iran Press on Saturday.

Chegeni noted the longstanding partnership between Iran and Turkmenistan in the gas sector, emphasizing the mutual benefits of strengthening cooperation.

The Managing Director of NIGC announced that Iran would host the ministerial meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) this year and expressed support for Turkmenistan's potential membership in the forum.

In late April of this year, a high-level delegation from Turkmenistan met with the Managing Director of the Iranian Electricity Industry Syndicate (TAVANIR), Mehrdad Eklimi, in Tehran. The parties exchanged views on expanding mutual opportunities and facilitating the financing process for a joint venture project to build and operate the third power transmission line between the two countries.
