At the regular online government meeting on Friday, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov proposed to President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov the preparation of a five-year Framework Cooperation Program between Turkmenistan and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
As per the report of the official Turkmen media, this document, covering areas such as healthcare, particularly nuclear medicine, rational use of water resources, and agriculture, will serve as a solid foundation for developing new national projects in priority areas within the framework of technical partnership between Turkmenistan and the IAEA.
The Deputy Prime Minister also proposed taking appropriate steps to strengthen the international legal framework for multilateral cooperation with countries around the world within the IAEA and to elect Turkmenistan to one of the 8 existing structural divisions of the Agency.
The Head of State emphasized the established fruitful cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency and instructed the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs to continue the relevant work in this direction.
Turkmenistan has been a full member of the IAEA since 2016.
