The National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, visited the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Ashgabat on Tuesday to express condolences to the representatives of the neighboring country.
Upon arrival at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, spoke with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ali Mojtaba Ruzbehani, reports the official media of Turkmenistan.
Noting the severe tragedy that occurred in the brotherly Iran, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan, personally and on behalf of the Turkmen people, expressed condolences to the families and friends of the victims. As a symbol of the enduring Turkmen-Iranian relations of friendship and brotherhood, the National Leader of the Turkmen People made an entry in the Book of Condolences.
"As a prominent political and state figure, Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi did much for the welfare and happiness of his people and made a significant personal contribution to further strengthening Turkmen-Iranian friendly relations. With his untimely death, Iran has lost a devoted son serving his homeland, and Turkmenistan has lost a true friend," said Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, noting with regret that high-ranking officials perished alongside Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi in the helicopter.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Turkmenistan, Ali Mojtaba Ruzbehani, on behalf of the people and Government of Iran and personally, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, for finding the time to come to the Embassy and for addressing words of support to the Iranian people in this difficult moment.
On the same day, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, also visited the Embassy of Iran in Turkmenistan and left an entry in the Book of Condolences.
President of Iran Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi and members of the country's high-ranking delegation died on May 19 this year in a helicopter crash in the East Azerbaijan province of Iran.
